EMILY MOREIRA
Emily "EmM" Moreira (she/her) is originally from Richmond, Virginia, and is a graduate of James Madison University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. During her time at JMU, she held several leadership roles and worked with renowned artists and companies including Lucinda Childs, Norbert De La Cruz III, DanceWorks Chicago, Ballet Hispánico, and Eisenhower Dance Detroit. She also studied abroad in Madrid, Spain, where she performed a work by Rubén Graciani at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
After graduating, EmM began her professional dance career performing and working with renowned artists such as Stephanie Martinez, Norbert De La Cruz III, and Yusha Sorzano, as well as performing with the Charlottesville Opera.
EmM is thrilled to return for her second season with Detroit Metropolitan Dance! During her time with the company, she has had the privilege of performing works by Yoshito Sakuraba, Stephanie Pizzo, Christian Denice, and Laurie Eisenhower. In addition to performing as a company member, EmM serves as the company's Administrative Assistant and Intensives Coordinator. She also teaches at the School of Detroit Metropolitan Dance and serves as the Junior Company Director for the Detroit Metropolitan Dance Youth Company.
